This Week Was Tough!
I got stuck with a client project that almost got my head chopped up!
Thursday evening.
I'm sitting at my desk trying to write you this email.
This is the only time I have squeezed out to write for myself this week.
From Monday all through to Thursday early evening, I laboured with boring, back-breaking, neck-bending, eye-aching, finger-stiffening client work while my two-year-old daughter kept me busy with the sound of Cocomelon and Peter Rabbit playing in the background, of course with the occasional "daddy carry me" and making me type with one hand while she was on my lap just doing what active two-year-old people do.
While I was working on that big client project, I also had to attend quick meetings, check in on some smaller projects, and interface with our teams at Care City Meda & Carecode Digital Health Hub. As you may have noticed, we haven't published much at Care City Media. This project was the cause of everything (I blame you looking for money).
I had everything planned out for this week from last weekend. I was excited about all the wonderful ideas I would share on Care City Media and via my newsletter when I saw a client proposal and decided to try it out.
The pay was good, and the client wanted me to work on it.
It was a good project but with a very "unholy" & "wicked" deadline!
Yes, that deadline made the whole project look like "stone-breaking" labour, I must be honest—I hope they are not reading this now.
And I needed the money!
Anyway, I have managed to struggle through 50% of the project and waiting for the client to pay.
Sometimes, freelancing can be very interesting and exciting, especially when you get the right clients who understand and are mature (and do the type of work you love doing).
There are times when you may come across some very mean folks who would make you wish you had never gotten yourself into this thing called freelancing or creative entrepreneurship.
It's not easy being a creative entrepreneur.
It takes a lot of work, sacrifice, and effort.
This is a big salute to all creative entrepreneurs out there.
Keep up the grind.
I feel so relieved writing to you again.
It's like I have come out from under the water to take a big, long, refreshing breath!
Saturday is the second edition of our healthcare leadership and innovation webinar.
We normally don't do very heavy publicity for our events because we believe in interacting with the few people ready to learn, connect, and grow.
When you organise events like ours, which are essentially about leadership and innovation, it takes a lot of marketing to really get people to see what you're doing, which is not something we are doing at this stage of brand growth.
So, if you're interested, here's the link to register.
We will host Dr Oluwadamilare Akingbade, a mentor, leader, academic, and researcher (one of my favourite nursing scholars).
He will share insights on how education, research, and innovation can improve healthcare delivery and practice in Africa.
You don't want to miss this.
This particular edition packs a lot of benefits.
Read more about it here.
You should also invite your friends and network to help us spread the message of leadership and innovation in healthcare.
What Have I Been Up To?
Apart from taking up client work, I have been learning extensively and researching branding and marketing.
...Especially how design and content marketing can drive value for brands.
So, this year, I decided to revisit an old idea: to create an agency for small and medium-sized healthcare brands and businesses that provides full-stack marketing services at an affordable rate—very affordable.
Don't break the bank, but still get value.
We already have a few brands that we will be working with in the next few months. I am happy to inform you that slots are still available if you want to work with us.
Our services for now include:
Web design, re-design and development.
Brand development and management (re-branding).
Blog management and optimisation (I am going in hard on this one this year!)
Ghostwriting (social media).
Social media management.
From experience and my years working with healthcare brands, I have discovered that these are the major areas they struggle with.
I am teaming up with creators who share my vision to offer "full-stack marketing services" at rates that are affordable for small and medium-sized healthcare startups and brands that may not have the money now to afford the big agencies but want to grow and entrepreneurs who don't have the time to do all the marketing stuff but want to grow.
Marketing and running all the day-to-day activities of a small and growing brand is time-consuming.
Let us help you do the heavy lifting while you focus on the most important aspects of your business.
I will be writing much more about this project until we finally launch.
This opportunity is only for brands, startups, or entrepreneurs who have already started doing something and are ready to invest in brand growth and expansion or are getting ready to start and have resources!
Send me a simple email here: workwithbigdan@gmail.com.
I will write another email to you tomorrow morning!
For now, I just want to hug my wife and REST!
Have a wonderful night's rest!
Catch you tomorrow!
