I Have Resumed Writing On Substack And The First Substack I Will Ever Recommend And Write About
I resumed from my short break + the first Substack newsletter I will ever write about and recommend.
Hello there, my wonderful readers.
How have you all been doing?
I believe you've all been doing fine and staying safe.
I was on a brief break.
I took a little pause from publishing online (not writing—I kept writing) and social media. My last piece before the break was published on September 3rd. You can read it here.
I enjoyed my break (unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures; I was indoors all through).
I got enough time to rest, reconnect with my family, learn a new skill (more on this later), read more, and plan for the future.
I also took some strategic steps over at Care City. We are preparing to venture into a new phase as a team, and I am making decisions that will prepare us for that phase. I am so excited.
The future is bright. I know it. We just need to keep on learning, getting better and stronger, and being doggedly optimistic.
There's a whole lot I am eager to share with you.
During my break, I rediscovered my purpose for writing. I just love to share what I am learning with people. And that's what my writing is all about—learning and sharing.
Great people don't joke with learning. They are always learning, keeping them at the top of the social ladder. And I feel the best way to share wisdom with people is through writing.
Here are a few things I will be focusing on sharing with you this month:
I am reading "The Art of Thinking Clearly" by Rolf Dobelli. I read this old book some years ago (say five or six). And it helped me a lot. I am going to reread it this month, and I will publish my study notes here. You don't want to miss it. Reviewing and publishing my study notes about this book will also open Unbounded to featuring lengthy reviews of rare and deep books and literature. The only work I have reviewed on Unbounded is James Clears' work. You can find it here. I enjoyed reviewing that course. If you have a book you'd love me to review, kindly let me know. Besides, I am in desperate search of fresh books to read. Mainly philosophy, spiritual books (Christian), fiction (sci-fi), non-fiction (business, money, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
I will be writing extensively this month on the following themes—purpose, family life, business and entrepreneurship, finance, and how to keep good friends. If you haven't subscribed, kindly do so. I am going to make my writing deeper and simpler. Complex writing is difficult to understand. And if only a few people understand what you are writing, what's the use?
I can't wait to share all I have been learning with you.
A Substack Newsletter I Am Overjoyed About And Too Willing To Recommend
The first time I found Substack, I instantly fell in love with the platform.
Its simplicity, style, tech, and interface make writing a delight. And the brains behind it. They are people who deeply love the art of writing—Chris Best, Jairaj Sethi, and Hamish McKenzie. Read about them here.
When I started my Substack, I encouraged a few close friends I knew could write well to join me on the platform. So far, only one has taken it seriously. And this section is about his Substack.
When I stumbled upon his LinkedIn post announcing the launch of his Substack, I was more than excited.
I had been on his neck for a long time, pushing and encouraging him. I knew that one of the things that hindered him from fully jumping into it at that time was that he was studying for his doctorate. And those of you who have done or are doing an advanced degree know how time-consuming and demanding it can be.
He's the current CEO of The Institute of Nursing Research, Nigeria: a friend, mentor, scholar, leader and a Certified Global Nurse Consultant.
Dr Oluwadamilare Akingbade's Substack, The Nurse Researcher's Diary, is one of a kind.
If you are a nurse interested in research and academia, this newsletter is your first destination. I can assure you that everything you will get here is true, tried and trusted.
There aren't many Substacks (in the world) like The Nurse Researcher's Diary that speak to a very specific need in healthcare research and academia.
The nursing academia and research ecosystem is a very small one.
In Nigeria, we can count the number of nurses with a doctorate.
There aren't many. Only a few nurses here in Nigeria have reached very high in academia, and this scarcity of nurse academics in Nigeria contributes to the many challenges of the profession here in Nigeria.
The Nurse Researcher's Diary is a light that shines bright and serves as direction and motivation for young nurses hungry to climb high in nursing academia.
Subscribe now and let me know what you think about it.
I enjoyed his recent post about relocating to Hong Kong with his family to study for his doctorate. Please read it here.
And if you know of any nurse or healthcare professional in Nigeria or Africa who regularly writes here on Substack, kindly let me know. Let's support the community and grow together.
P.S
I am looking for freelance writers to write with us at Care City. Preferably healthcare professionals in Nigeria or Africa (must have prior experience writing online). But anyone interested in healthcare writing can also reach out to me—experienced writers only. It’s not a volunteer opening.
Also, at Carecode Digital Health Hub, we plan to launch a series of digital health awareness campaigns targeted at the healthcare community in Africa. You can contact me if you are willing to volunteer (on a volunteer basis only). You are also welcome if you'd love to partner with us or sponsor.
And finally, my agency, Evolve Health Media, is looking for partners to work with. We help healthcare brands handle their marketing, branding and tech needs. We are looking for creators to partner with. If you have the spirit of partnership, kindly contact me.
